Harper Pin

Requires Attunement

(This version used, since no 2024 version available)

Harper pins carry one, two, or three blessings from the goddesses: Lliira, goddess of joy; Mielikki, goddess of rangers; and Tymora, goddess of luck.

Beginner Harpers (rank 1) had access to one of their choice, experienced Harpers (rank 2) two, and veteran Harpers (rank 3+) all three.

These blessings protected the wearer from harm or aided them against a foe.

  • Lliira bestowed joy and grace to help a Harper strike surely, lest they miss in an attack (Knows True Strike Cantrip).
  • Mielikki granted endurance to pain, so they could shrug off an injury (Knows Spare the Dying Cantrip).
  • Tymora gave luck to help them evade ill effects and magic (Knows Guidance Cantrip).

To have the spell(s) available, the user most have had the Pin in their possession during the previous Long Rest. And still be carrying it.

To change the available spell(s), the user most meditate on the Pin during a Long Rest. This will change the spell(s). But no spells will be available from the Pin until another Long Rest has finished.

–

The Harper attuned to the pin may, as a bonus action and mere act of will requiring neither speech nor gesture, command the pin to change its shape into another piece of jewelry. It never appears to be worth more than 5gp, although this value can be for a piece that is obviously costume jewelry.

If the wearer is in any way targeted by a dispel magic, even if the pin is not the target of that spell, it automatically reverts to its normal harp-and-moon shape.

–

To Senior Harpers (rank 4+) the pin also bestowes on the wearer the same abilities as a ring of mind shielding, that is, shielding them from detect lies and detect thoughts, as well as any magical effect that would reveal their alignment.
